PSITTACIFORMES: Psittacidae
Alisterus scapularis
It was a crisp winter morning, 3 degrees, and the sun was just peeking over the tops of the trees bringing some feeble warmth.
I was standing by a fence where I had previously seen speckled warblers and I was waiting for some light as I had seen some movement.
I was enjoying the moment and suddenly became aware of some movement to my right. There in the top of a low shrub was a pair of king-parrots quietly feeding and watching me.
I watched them for some 15 minutes until movement off to my left caught my attention and some Eastern Rosellas could be heard. Time to investigate!!
